Pskov news line: Mikhail Sutyaginsky: The Titan- Polymer plant is required not only for the Pskov region, but also for the country

“The Titan- Polymer plant is required not only for the Pskov region. It is required for the country.” – This opinion was expressed by the Chairman of the GC Titan Board of Directors, Mikhail Sutyaginsky on the air of “Echo Moskvy” radio in Pskov, when he was commenting the perspectives of the second stage construction of the plant in the Moglino SEZ.

“The pandemic disrupted so many people lives today and personal protection equipment proved to be vital. If we were in a possession of a sufficient quantity of feedstock for its production, we could have saved the lives of thousands of people who died. Coronavirus decimates not only the elderly population, but also the young people. In this situation we considered our options and ensured one more time that we did the right thing by suggesting a construction of such a complex here to the Pskov region government”, - explained in-studio guest.

According to his opinion the PET-flakes plant is just indispensable. “Nonwovens made of PET have more advantages over polypropylene "nonwoven".

Both military and chemists have already confirmed by the performed tests that those PET products do not lose their capabilities and retain their protective properties, even during a heat treatment. Therefore we assume that such plant is needed not only for the Pskov region. It is indispensable for the country, because it’s one-hundred-per-cent confirmed that all nonwovens are imported by us to the Russian Federation” - Mikhail Sutyaginsky noted.

Besides, according to him the Pskov plant will have a third hazard class. The sanitary protection zone of the complex will not be more than 300 meters. “I can say that paint and varnish enterprises, food processing plants are much more dangerous than the products that we are going to produce especially because of the disposal of food products ingredients. The advantage of this product is that it reacts with absolutely nothing. This product is the only polymer that is the most inert. Presently it is used to make blood transfusion and storage systems and for a storage of pharmaceuticals. In-studio guest specified that all this is made of polyethylene terephthalate and the most important thing is that we have the opportunity to expand cooperation among medium and small businesses, enterprises that already sew masks; however the hazard class of those ones will be higher.
