Rupec.ru: A compression module is going to be installed at the site of AO “Omsky kauchuk” in order to reduce isobutene losse

AO “Omsky kauchuk” (part of GC Titan) is going to receive the equipment for discharging tank cars that transport liquefied hydrocarbon gases and for collecting residuals (gas phase) of the product from the tank cars. The supplier of the equipment is a Russian company, as it was reported by the plant press service.

The compression module will have both environmental and economic benefits: it will reduce emissions and significantly reduce isobutane loss. Due to the application of the new compression module isobutane will be re-directed entirely to the production cycle under the existing drain scheme.

The equipment is planned to be launched in the second half of 2023.

"The commissioning is going to take about a month, and the next step is a pilot run. The fact that the new equipment is Russian-made is especially important in the current situation.  In the future we will be able to get all the components and consumables in case of need, steadily, without any problems or delays," said Sergei Ivanilov, general director of the company.

Isobutane is a raw material for MTBE production.
