Omsk News: The monument to Omsk founder Buchholz is scheduled to be unveiled on the 4th of August

The region Head Vitaly Khotsenko and Mayor Sergey Shelest during their joint visit to the city facilities assessed working process on the construction of the equestrian monument to Ivan Buchholz and plans to improve the territory around the monument, discussed further development of the only public space in the private house sector in Port-Arthur.

At the moment the construction of the monument pedestal is in process at the viewing platform of Irtysh embankment, granite finishing of its base has already been started.

All the work is going in accordance with the roadmap. The monument will be perfectly visible from the river Irtysh when walking on yachts and motor ships, when driving along the Irtysh embankment.

GC Titan undertook to make a present to the city inhabitants for the birthday of Omsk.

“The Group of companies Titan supported the initiative of Omsk administration to manufacture and install a monument to Ivan Dmitrievich Buchholz, acting as an art patron of the project. Support for this initiative has become part of the program of events devoted to the 60th anniversary of “Omsky kauchuk” plant,” Chairman of the Board of Directors of AO GC Titan, Mikhail Sutyaginsky said. – The project implementation will preserve the history and culture of the city of Omsk, as well as perpetuate the memory of its founder. We consider it important to contribute to Omsk development." The contractor is also working on casting the figure elements of Buchholz I.D. and the horse in bronze.

Mikhail Sutyaginsky assured the region head and the mayor of Omsk that everything planned would be carried out in due time, and the opening of the monument would take place on the 4th of August. In the improvement plans, special attention will be paid to preserving space integrity and harmonious connection of the territory adjacent to the monument with the environment.

“We have agreed that we will improve this part on the embankment definitely together. There will be a good monument - a beautiful place and a point of attraction, granite decoration, we will make a good illumination. This project is essentially an example of a public-private partnership. The monument is erected by our business, and we are providing employment assistance. There is a bridge nearby, which we are finishing next year within a national project. High–quality work will be carried out, quality-assured landscape lighting will also be arranged, and these are already two good gifts to the city,” Vitaly Khotsenko said.

Landscaping of the garden square along the 1st Krasnaya Zvezda Street in Leninsky district was carried out in several stages as part of the national project “Housing and urban Environment”. Due to this fact, a well-conditioned place with pedestrian paths, children's and sports grounds, benches, a run track and parking for bicycles appeared in the private house sector of Port-Arthur. The square became attractive for the locals, but also new requests arose. In the sector of individual residential development, it is not easy to implement them – there are no other sites nearby for this, but the square area makes it possible to continue its development.

A great deal will depend, Vitaly Khotsenko emphasizes, on the local initiative, the activity of the residents themselves. The government of Omsk region, on its part, will create incentives for this – next year, it is planned to multiply funding for the implementation of projects proposed by Omsk residents for the initiative budgeting program.

“I gave the Mayor Sergey Nikolaevich appropriate action points and instructions so that people could specify where and how to develop: which grounds we are building, which sports facilities we are setting. It will be a good example of a full-fledged partnership between the authorities and the population of our region, city. People will inform themselves what needs to be done. Now in Port-Arthur we saw how the site was made last year. We will continue its development this year and next year within local initiatives and the program for which we plan to allocate 1 billion rubles,” Vitaly Khotsenko said.

“We also appeal to residents to have a responsible attitude to those things that have already been done within the area improvement - to those sites, plantings, small forms of architecture that have been installed in the square, to prevent vandalism, to take care of all this now so that it could bring joy to people for many years,” Mayor of Omsk Sergey Shelest noted.
