Ministry of Industry of Omsk region: A new fuel type can reduce vehicle emissions up to 40 percent

High-octane fuel components planned for production at the AO Group of companies Titan sites will reduce harmful vehicle emissions up to 40 percent. The AO Group of companies Titan Chairman of the Board of Directors Mikhail Sutyaginsky spoke about it within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum demonstrating calculations on the example of Omsk region. The Head of the company participated in the «Carbonless Energetics. Future of fuel material» session and visited a plenary meeting where Vladimir Putin gave a speech.

«Our new high-octane fuel components will provide an opportunity to decrease vehicle emissions up to 40 percent and it does not matter whether the components will be used in Euro-2 or Euro-5 engines. We will be able to switch to Euro-6 just like the whole Europe is doing today,» Mikhail Sutyaginsky said.

The AO Group of companies Titan is developing a new ethyl tret – butyl ether production. It is supposed that ETBE will be produced at the AO “Omsky kauchuk” plant site. It will be possible to improve ecological specifications of gas due to this additional component. According to experts the component will reduce vehicle emissions by 2-2,5 million tons throughout the Russian Federation. The project has also a purpose to save natural gas (467 million m3) and oil (1,5 million tons) by replacing methanol with natural ethanol. It also prevents methanol emissions into environment.

“Many companies are claiming electric-powered vehicles, but for Russia such a conversion, such infrastructure will take a decent amount of time. I believe our product will have a positive impact on the environment we all live in,” Mikhail Sutyaginsky said.

 The discussion was also attended by State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation – Victor Evtukhov, Chairman of the Board, General Director, SIBUR LLC – Mikhail Karisalov, Vice President, ESN Group of Companies – Vadim Medvedev, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation – Pavel Sorokin.
