“Interfax-Russia”: “Omsky kauchuk” has shipped the first 400 tons of isopropanol to consumers

The first batch of isopropanol in the volume of more than 400 tons, produced by the plant “Omsky kauchuk” (GC Titan), has been directed to Russian consumers, as the GC Titan press service reports.

As it was reported, the official start of isopropanol production at the plant “Omsky kauchuk” had been given by the Group of companies Titan in January with the participation of the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov. The Omsk project provides for the highest - medical quality isopropanol production, therefore at an early stage already, it has received support of the Federal Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Production Development Fund. 

"Within the ongoing start-up and commissioning and comprehensive testing of IPA unit (isopropyl alcohol - IF) the specialists of the Group of companies Titan have achieved required quality parameters and have already directed more than 400 tons of the product to Russian consumers," the statement said.

At the same time, a third of the shipped volume fell to the own sites of the Group of companies Titan – a separate subdivision of the Novocherkassk Lubricant Production Plant in Alexino, where antiseptics based on isopropyl alcohol, as well as products for ignition and auto chemicals under its own trademark have been produced since spring 2020.

The rest of isopropanol volume was shipped for the consumers of Omsk, Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod regions. It was purchased by manufacturers of household chemicals and laboratory reagents.

Isopropyl alcohol is a strategic product that is in demand by many industries. It is used in printing, woodworking, cosmetics and perfumery industries, as well as in pharmaceutics, where it is used to make disinfectants. At the same time, 2/3 of the Russian market demand for IPS is satisfied by imports.

The start of the GC Titan isopropanol production with a capacity of 60 thousand tons per year will significantly reduce the share of imported isopropyl alcohol consumption and provide Russian enterprises with necessary raw materials, as the press service notes.
