All-Russia Public Organization “Delovaya Rossiya”: Delovaya Rossiya held an expert session on industrial greening at ChemiCos-2020 exposition

The main topic was the implementation of the best available technologies.

On September 16^th the Chemical Industry Committee of Delovaya Rossiya held the expert session “Implementation of the best available technologies by industrial enterprises, reducing environmental impact” at the 3^rd International Specialized Exhibition ChemiCos-2020. Aleksandr Orlov - Director of the Chemical-Technological Complex Department and Bioengineering Technologies of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Arina Volosatova -  Deputy Director of the Center for Environmental Industrial Policy, Aleksandr Matnenko - First Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Omsk region, Aleksandr Danilov - Executive Director of Research Equipment Sharing Center of St. Petersburg Mining University, committee experts in the field of ecology, representatives of industrial enterprises and industry business associations took part in the session.

Nikolay Krivozertsev, General Director of the GC “EcoStandard”, General Council member of Delovaya Rossiya, performed as a moderator of the session. In his introductory speech he noted that conference was devoted not only to the best modern technologies, but also to their implementation practices, as well as to particular interesting cases. “These particular aspects are now very important for the industry”, - Nikolay Krivozertsev assured.

“We are aware of environmental impact caused by any industrial activity. Meanwhile we should remember, industry is one of the economy foundations and industrial enterprises are key employers in a number of territories. Therefore, it is very important to answer the question - how to fulfil the industrial potential of Russia on the one hand, but at the same time - to minimize the environmental consequences,” Pavel Titov, President of Delovaya Rossiya specified the session topic. He also expressed hope that following the discussion results, suggestions concerning eco-standard implementation on the territory of the pilot regions would be formulated and accepted, and an “action plan” would be constructed for its promotion as well.

Mikhail Sutyaginsky, Chairman of the Chemical Industry Committee of Delovaya Rossiya, made a note that industrial enterprises in regions and their environmental impact had become the center-stage in recent years. According to his words, enterprises have to become more apparent, although a significant part of such matters and environmental responsibility cannot be solved without participation of authorities. “The national project provides for the fact that by 2024 the environmental load should be reduced for 22%. It is a very ambitious and important task. We all would like the industrial manufacturing move on “green” rails. The committee for chemical industry of Delovaya Rossiya has chosen the direction of industrial ecologization as one of the priorities, and we suppose the tasks of reducing the environmental load should be completed not only by enterprises. It is a comprehensive decision,” he said.

The session participants touched in their reports upon issues of efficiency estimation of measures for environmental impact reducing, regulatory enforcement in the field of environmental legislation, shared their experience and results in implementation of the best available technologies reducing environmental load.

The session results will be compiled by the committee for chemical industry of Delovaya Rossiya into a document that will be sent to industrial enterprises and regional authorities. “We realize that BAT (the Best Available Technology) implementation is not an instrument to remove a label “ecologically-dangerous” from the enterprise”. But the package of measures we have heard about today can be brought into accordance - the so-called ecological standard of territories, which is reasonable to be armed with by everyone involved in industrial safety at enterprises and reducing the environmental impact. Ecological standard is the system. And as a rule, only the system gives results,” Mikhail Sutyaginsky summarized.
