The environmental topic from the enterprise and in the media should be covered by specialists, according to the participants of the project "Eco-school for modern media". At the regular training session of the project the issues of effective interaction with industrial enterprises in the framework of the environmental agenda and the preparation of requests to the information centers of enterprises were discussed. Alina Rybina, Deputy General Director for Corporate Communications of the AO GC Titan, devoted her speech to this topic and said that the best "Eco-school" students would be considered as future journalists in the press-service of the Group of Companies.
"Journalists today play a key role in covering environmental issues in the media. They are opinion leaders who are responsible for the content being formed. It is important that the authors are not only prompt, but also understand the essence of the problem and use professional definitions. Few of today's journalists writing about environmental protection understand the meaning of basic concepts in industrial ecology,” said Alina Rybina. “We hope that the Ecoschool project will help develop the competence of the authors. For our part, we consider Eco-Schools students as candidates for work in our company's press-service.”
Sergey Elizarov (Pskov), an eco-activist and the head of the project "Eco-industry" told that the journalist, who writes about ecology, should be ideologically interested in this subject, be a carrier of information. Sergey told us about his personal example of how he went from being an environmental activist to becoming a radio program host and an expert on Pskov television.
"Ecology begins with each of us. Journalists who are interested and write about ecology can go further and generally change their way of life: create eco-space around themselves and in the office, implement eco habits into their lives, tell their audience about it and share personal achievements," said Sergey Elizarov.
"Eco-school for modern media" is the first large-scale educational project in Omsk, which contributes to improving the competence of journalists who report on environmental issues, as well as promoting the principles of environmental thinking.
Eco-school will help future and already working journalists to cover environmental issues at a higher professional level, find exclusive information and communicate in the same language with competent experts. Thanks to the project, a pool of authors specializing in the topic of ecology will be formed in the Omsk region.
The organizer of "Eco-school" is the Omsk regional branch of the Union of Journalists of Russia. The project was supported by the AO GC Titan and Omsk Oil Refinery.
