“Titan” acted as a partner of the “Total dictation” campaign in Omsk

The GC “Titan” is a partner of the annual international educational campaign in Omsk.  Within partnership the Group of companies will award the winners in a special nomination “The most skillful petrochemist in grammar”.

On April 10, the large-scale educational campaign “Total dictation – 2021” took place in Omsk. The GC “Titan” employees took part in the all-Russian event as well.

This time 30 Titan employees wrote dictation at the main venue of “Total dictation” in Omsk (the 1^st academic building of Omsk State University named after F.M. Dostoevsky). The text was read by Konstantin Milchin, a journalist, literary critic, managing editor of the Storytel service.

“It’s such a mass, comprehensive and major event, participating wherein inspires, cultivates love of the Russian language and literature, as well as sets a goal of constant improving one's literacy. While working on mistakes you realize how mighty the Russian language really is,” Nadezhda Kravchenko, Production Design Engineer of the technical department of the AO “Omsky kauchuk” comments.

For Omsk residents according to Tatiana Rogozhnikova, the coordinator of the action, “Total dictation” in Omsk is not just a philological flash mob, but an important cultural and social event for which people prepare with interest and awareness. By the way, in comparison with Siberian cities with a population of over one million, Omsk always follows Novosibirsk, the dictation birthplace, concerning participants number.

“I consider that our city is very intelligent, well-educated and much reading. The dictation shows how people are interested in it - in complete seriousness, having respect for the written culture and each author. As an aside, language text of the current dictation requires comprehension, since colloquial syntax is presented in it. It is rather important for correct live speech,” Tatiana Rogozhnikova noted.

On the opinion of the action coordinator, for the GC “Titan” this event is also very important. Every year, more and more members of the initiative group come to write a dictation in their corporate form, to test their knowledge and analyze mistakes in a face-to-face consultation.

“Total dictation” is being held in Omsk for the tenth anniversary time. The texts of the dictations are unique and are prepared every year specially for the event.  The authors are famous modern writers, this year it’s Dmitry Glukhovsky, a Russian writer, journalist, scenarist, radio presenter. By the way, in 2020 alone, 271,449 Russians took part in the action.

“Total dictation” is an annual educational action aimed to develop culture of grammatically correct writing. For 18 years, this event has grown to an almost worldwide scale. Participants voluntarily and free of charge write a dictation simultaneously in different cities of Russia and the world, adjusted for time zones. Whereby, everyone writes the same text or different parts of it, regardless of the venue chosen.
