The millionth piglet was born at the “Titan-Agro” pig-breeding complex

A separate subdivision of “Titan-Agro” Ltd – Pig-breeding complex “Petrovsky” celebrates its 10^th anniversary in 2021. During the complex operation more than a million piglets were born here.

The first piglet was born in “Petrovsky” in March 2012, and the millionth one - a little over nine years later. Let’s clarify that, on average, one sow brings at least 12 piglets, and the record, accepted by “Titan” breeders amounted to 22 piglets.

At present, the total livestock of the pig breeding complex exceeds 60 thousand heads, represented by the Large White (Yorkshire), Duroc and Landrace breeds. Hybrids of these breeds possess a high growth rate and excellent meat qualities. The pig-breeding facility of the GC Titan belongs to the 4^th compartment - farms with the highest degree of biological protection.

The renewal of genetics, started at the pig-breeding complex in 2019, continues. Instead of the Irish company Hermitage Genetics, which left the market, the Canadian company Genesus Genetics became the supplier of new purebred animals. Its breeding farm is located in Voronezh region. In 2021, 117 animals will be included in the number of new inhabitants of the pig farm - 90 sows and 27 boars will be bought. The first batch of 55 pigs has already arrived to Omsk, and after quarantine, adaptation and all necessary veterinary procedures they will be introduced into the main herd. The full renewal of the livestock genetics will be completed in 2023.
