The largest equipment for the isopropanol production was installed at the Group of Companies «Titan»

Two lifting cranes worked simultaneously at the site of Omsky kauchuk plant (is included in the Group of Companies). Four largest units of the basic process equipment for the cumene production facility reconstruction project with the organization of the isopropyl alcohol production have been installed.

The cumene production facility reconstruction project with the isopropyl alcohol production unit possesses excellent environmental characteristics. Its implementation will allow to produce isopropyl alcohol of the highest quality.

Isopropanol is in demand in many industries - from the mechanical engineering to the food industry, and its strong antiseptic properties make it an important product in the manufacture of cosmetics and medical products, including antiseptics.

“This project has great prospects inside the country and can significantly reduce the share of imports in consumption by the chemical, oil, wood processing, perfumery and medical industries. Isopropyl alcohol is a universal solvent and agent served for the extraction of target products in oil refining, paint materials, it is an indispensable component part used in the manufacture of high-quality car care products - brake fluid, antifreeze, perfumery and cosmetic products, which are widely in demand at the consumer market,” says Viktor Ivanov, President of the Russian Chemists Union. “Besides, for the domestic chemical industry the project is interesting not only from the point of view of import substitution but also as the demonstrative history of using 100% of the Russian feedstock base, as well as the high environmental responsibility initiative, implemented already at the design work stage”.

The key equipment installation at the plant site occurred in conditions of an increased demand in the country for disinfecting agents.

The alkylator installation on the foundation which represents a 64-ton vessel designed for the cumene synthesis became the most responsible task for installers. Besides, a 38-meter isopropyl alcohol purification column and two units of more modest dimensions were mounted on the base — hydrogenator for producing isopropanol, and transalkylation unit that helps to avoid the waste formation during the cumene output.

“The installation of the required heat exchanging and pumping equipment, as well as the equipment process piping will be the next stage of the construction and installation works,” has explained Alexander Gross, Project Manager. “Omsky kauchuk” plant has already received all the key Russian and foreign equipment for the project”.
