The environmental program of the AO GC Titan resulted in reduction of total emissions in Omsk by more than 2000 tons per year. The Omsky kauchuk plant’ share of the city's total emissions is less than 1.5%. These results were announced by head of the AO GC Titan Moscow office Alexander Orlov at the platform of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation. In his speech at the round table, where the implementation of the federal project "Clean Air" was discussed, he told how the implementation of environmental measures at the Omsky kauchuk plant is carried out.
“As representatives of the chemical industry we focus on reduction of environmental impact and implement ecological programs by ourselves. As part of the ESG agenda we hold different events, generate projects and programs, involving the expert community, science, the public, and the media,” head of the AO GC Titan Moscow office Alexander Orlov said.
The program plan for reduction of environmental impact is included in the schedule of activities of the federal project "Clean Air". Environmental impact has been reduced due to massive modernization of the organic synthesis production. The AO GC Titan has launched the revamped production of phenol and acetone. Modernization of the cumene production has been finished. The production has been converted to a more modern and environmentally friendly process.
As a result, the emission reduction rate from this production has reached 87%. IPA production is part of this project. This production is practically free of effluents and emissions. The implementation cost for the above-mentioned projects exceeded 10 billion rubles.
“Today our main activity involves looking for new processing ideas, emissions source inventory, a complete revamping of operations and reduction of existing emissions. We carry out active work with supervisory authorities and comply with their instructions. Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources strictly controls our activity. As part of the federal project “Clean Air” a schedule of events is planned. Holding these events will improve the ecological situation. Atmospheric emissions will be reduced by more than 200 tons,” Alexander Orlov added.
In 2019 the AO GC Titan established the Information Center in order to cooperate with public and mass media. The Center has published more than 1000 reports on environmental issues and attracted experts to the company's projects from different regions of Russia - Omsk, Pskov, Samara, and Sverdlovsk regions. Thus, the company provides daily report on air monitoring in the operational area of the Omsky kauchuk plant. For detailed information see the website and social networks.
Elena Sharoykina, chairman of the Commission on Ecology and the Environment of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, noted that the company is really ready for a dialogue with the public and is information-open, which is confirmed by the company management's agreement to host a delegation of commission experts at the Omsky kauchuk plant in the near future.
