Pumping equipment was revamped at AO “Omsky kauchuk”

As part of a modernization program current units were replaced with modern ones in the emulsifier and stabilizer shop of the rubber and latex industry. New pumps meet all modern environmental and industrial safety requirements.

The subdivision modernization project was designed by employees of the plant’s design department. The manufacturer of the equipment was a domestic company. So far, 8 units of pumping equipment have been installed. An auxiliary vessel for one of the varieties of working substances was also replaced.

“Due to the update we will minimize the possibility of product loss. The new pumps are more rugged and leak proof because of their double face seals that prevent pumped liquid from getting into the environment. Thanks to the technologies used, the inter-overhaul time will increase. And, of course, the installation of the new units will significantly improve the stability and safety of the entire process chain,” the division's employees explained. 

Thanks to the EC&I shop’s workers an automatic control scheme for the process was designed: the equipment operator monitors the operation of the equipment remotely. He can switch between operation modes and turn the pumps off right from the operator station.

The new equipment has a high-level emergency system. The pumps are equipped with a power hardware system. There are temperature sensors of bearings and level sensors, as well as alarms for vessel equipment overflow and drop of liquid level in the apparatus. In an emergency, the mechanism will automatically shut off, reducing the possibility of failure.

The new units are scheduled to be fully operational as early as March 2023.
