Participants of the project “Eco-School for Modern Media” visited Omsky kauchuk plant

A group of journalists, university students, and school students (participants of the “Eco-School” project) visited the industrial site of Omsky kauchuk plant (part of the AO GC Titan).

The AO GC Titan organized a tour for the participants to the renovated and new productions of Omsky kauchuk plant. The participants visited several industrial sites.

“Such events are important as they provide information on the activity of the plant, and its products and greening upgrades. The AO GC Titan systematically implements an ecological project due to which it was possible to significantly decrease environmental impact. Much has been done in the modernization of production facilities and today we tell the participants about it,” Chief Process Engineer of Omsky kauchuk plant Vsevolod Lozanov noted.

At first, the participants visited a methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) production shop. The AO GC Titan was the first company to produce this product in Siberia. The first ton of the product was manufactured on August 19 in 1995. Since 2008, the product has repeatedly won the federal competition of the program "100 Best Goods of Russia" in the category of "Products of industrial and technical purpose". Omsk MTBE production is the largest domestic unit capacity.

Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) production is another project of the AO GC Titan which was visited by the participants.

The IPA production unit was commissioned in 2021 and is the largest in Russia. The enterprise can produce up to 60 thousand of high-quality isopropanol per year. IPA production technology is waste-free and has low environmental impact.

“These tours as part of the “Eco-School” project are definitely important to broaden your horizons. It is impossible to read if you do not know letters as well as it is impossible to write an article about production process if you do not know anything about it,” a participant of the project, Chief-Editor and Channel 12 host Natalia Rogaleva noted.

We should note that the AO GC Titan is open to the public in terms of information and organizes tours to industrial sites. The company takes part in the city tour project "Industrial Tourism", annual "Excursion Flashmob", and in All-Russian career guidance campaign for young people "Week without turnstiles”.

Information: the “Eco-School for Modern Media” was started in Omsk region in spring 2022. The big project is implemented by the Omsk Union of Journalists with the support of the AO GC Titan. Main goal of the “Eco-School” is to improve skills of journalists and bloggers who talk about critical issues in the field of ecology. In addition, the project is intended to help media representatives in covering environmental issues at a high professional level.
