High accuracy chromatograph will help «Omsky kauchuk» save resources

An additional in-line chromatorgraph-gas analyzer was put into operation in butasiene shop. The apparatus optimizes consumption of power resources, raw materials and catalysts.

The new apparatus determines content of 15 components in contact gas which is formed in the process of hydrocarbons dehydrogenation. «Contact gas — is a mixture containing propane, isobutane, butane, butylene, hydrogen and other substances», explained Vladimir Nederov, process engineer of the shop. «Using new equipment we can control gas composition with high accuracy and, therefore, optimize consumption of all resources, both raw materials and power».

This apparatus manufactured by the Italian company Dani Instruments is very compact: its height is about 130 cm and its weight is approximately 50 kg. Fully automated complex includes analyzer, computing device on basis of PC and special software. Accurate data obtained in real-time mode ensure prompt correction of technical and economic calculations.

One in-line chromatograph was operated in the section before and part of analyses was executed in the lab of quality control department. With this new equipment all analyses are carried out in automated mode, speed and accuracy of tests increased.

The new modern in-line chromatograph was delivered to oil refinery of the Group of Companies «Titan» in spring. Employees of the shop and maintenance services of the plant performed its installation and connection, representatives of manufacturer completed calibration and start-up works and employees of control and instrumentation shop carried out fine adjustment of the chromatograph.

Optimization of processes is part of large-scale modernization program implemented at industrial facilities of the Group of Companies «Titan». According to Mikhail Sutyaginsky, Chairman of the Board, «Omsky kauchuk» has already implemented range of resource saving and eco-friendly arrangements: «We not only execute selective projects but also put forward full retrofitting of specific capacities»..
