Group of companies Titan has shipped the first consignment of commercial isopropanol

In January with the participation of Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Group of companies Titan officially started the production of isopropyl alcohol (IPA) at the “Omsky kauchuk” plant. Within the framework of the ongoing start-up and commissioning and comprehensive testing of the IPA production unit, the specialists of the Group of companies Titan have reached the required quality parameters and sent over 400 tons of the product to Russian consumers.

One third of the shipped volume falls on the own production areas sites of the Group of companies Titan – Aleksin Separate Subdivision of Novocherkassk Lubricant Production Plant. Since the spring of 2020 the division has been producing isopropyl alcohol-based antiseptics, as well as firelighter fluids and auto chemicals under its own trademark.

The most part of high-quality isopropyl alcohol was shipped to consumers from Omsk, Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod regions. Isopropanol produced by the Group of companies Titan was purchased by manufacturers of household chemicals and laboratory reagents.

We remind that isopropyl alcohol (IPA) is a strategic product that is in demand in many industries. It is used in printing, woodworking, cosmetics and perfumery, as well as in pharmaceuticals, where disinfectants are made of it. The Russian market demand for IPA is met by two-thirds due to import deliveries. The IPA production start-up by the Group of companies Titan with the capacity of 60 thousand tons per year will significantly reduce the consumption share of imported isopropyl alcohol and provide Russian enterprises with the necessary feedstock.

Omsk project provides for the production of isopropanol of the highest - medical - quality, and therefore at an early stage it received support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, as well as of the Industry Development Fund. All projects implemented by the GC Titan possess high environmental characteristics, using the best available technologies - IPA is obtained from acetone produced here, at Omsk industrial area.

“On the basis of our IPA it is possible to obtain valuable products - antiseptics and hygienic products, solvents, as well as products of eco-friendly auto care products - antifreeze and other special automotive fluids with a minimum impact on the environment,” noted Mikhail Sutyaginsky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the GC Titan. “The availability of isopropyl alcohol production facilities at the Group of companies Titan will provide small and medium-sized businesses in the regions of our presence with a base for the further development of small-tonnage chemistry, which was named by the Russian President Vladimir Putin as one of the key areas at a meeting in December 2020.”
