Ecology in new conditions: a crisis support package for companies has been prepared

It was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Ecology, Natural Resources, and Environmental Protection Committee of the State Duma Alexander Kogan at the plenary meeting held within the framework of the Third International Forum “Clean Country”. Representatives of industrial enterprises, including Titan Group of companies attended the event.

Environmental policy was the main topic of the meeting.  Firstly, changes in State management of natural resources and the challenges the industrial sector faced were discussed.

According to Alexander Kogan the Russian State Duma has already approved a legislative draft for postponing the coming into force of legislative acts in the field of ecology.

“We have recently made the decisions that motivate large companies to become more environmentally friendly: a lot of laws have been enacted to push green agenda forward: air, water, forest, and waste target indicators have been defined,” he said. “We should comply with these indicators, but taking into account the current situation we have decided to implement the first crisis support package which is going to be fully approved in the near future at the second and third readings and signed by President.”

The legislative draft provides extended time (until December 31, 2024) for top – 300 industrial companies across the country to get comprehensive environmental permits.

Deadline for the installation of control systems at emission sources is going to be extended as well.

“All companies were supposed to install automatic emissions tracking systems right on the pipes,” the speaker explained. “Previously, they had to install such systems within 4 years. Now they will have to do it within 6 years.”

In addition, the emissions quota experiment which has started in 2020 and covers 12 cities of Russia, including Omsk, has been extended. It will be completed in 2026.

Thus, enterprises now have enough time to correct their environmental programs and projects, as well as to find new suppliers of the necessary measuring instrumentation.
