Chemical Industry Committee of “Delovaya Rossiya” supported the idea of establishing a professional tank-container community

A working meeting of major players in the tank-container industry was held at the Delovaya Rossiya platform under the auspices of the Russian Union of Chemists. The event was supported by the Chemical Industry Committee of the All-Russian public organization "Delovaya Rossiya".

More than 15 companies of the industry took part in the meeting, the major players of the tank-container industry such as Transport and Spedition company "Modul", "Baltika-Trans", "Spetstranscontainer", "Kricon Russia", "Containerremservice", "Ruslinkcargo", "Hardy Tank", "Lenkhimsintez", "Marine Cargo Bureau", "Tank-Container Service" and others spoke out in favor of the Russian Union of Chemists concerning the establishment of the Tank-Container Transport Commission.

Mikhail Sutyaginsky, Chairman of the Chemical Industry Committee of "Delovaya Rossiya", member of the Coordination Council, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech.  "Today, time is not only dictating conditions, but also requires uniting all efforts not only among public organizations, but also among companies involved in tank container service, as well as transporting therein, for example, low-tonnage products. It is gratifying to see that there are members of the Chemical Industry Committee among the participants in today's meeting - indicating that we have common issues that need to be resolved together. As part of the Chemical Industry Committee, one of our key focus areas in our work we see the development of low-tonnage chemical products; we have done work to form 'pull-out' projects and we are currently developing a number of projects within the group of companies, such as low-molecular polyisobutylene, isophorone, diacetone alcohol, methylisobutylketone, methionine (fodder) and others. I emphasise, in the current economic environment, it is of extreme importance for the chemical industry to join together to resolve any difficulties that may arise in a prompt manner".

In his turn, Kirill Boltaev, the Chairman of the Tank-Container Commission of the Russian Union of Chemists, underlined: “Tank-container industry in Russia has been formed and continues to be formed chaotically, and, in fact, at random. For three years, we have been discussing in small circles the idea of creating a professional tank container community, which would unite all the participants in the process, starting from chemical plants and ending with a repair depot or a washing and steaming station. At the moment all the prerequisites for uniting and developing clear and understandable regulations of work are created, that will help chemical companies to avoid spoiling of products shipped in tank-containers, transport operators will give confidence in contractors, and for service companies will create a favorable environment for healthy competition and responsible business. This is a long and hard road that we have to overcome”.

Tatyana Petrova, Vice-President of the Russian Union of Chemists, also noted the great potential of the Tank-Container Commission. She talked about the importance of logistics in the current, difficult conditions, as well as the need to have a direct and trusting dialogue with the transport and logistics business at a fundamentally new level.

"Now logistics is more than just logistics. In fact, it is the circulatory system of the chemical industry, as well as a key and determinant of its sustainable development. Today, companies have adapted to the new conditions of life and production and have recovered from the sanctions. Now it is extremely important to create new transport and logistics chains as quickly as possible, ensuring an uninterrupted supply of finished chemical products to its consumers and feeding the industry with the necessary raw materials and equipment. At the level of our future Commission, Task No. 1 is to establish an open dialogue and direct work with you, with business".

During the meeting, the experts of the tank-container market discussed the most important problems of the industry, including compliance with environmental standards by market players, issues of unfair competition, and labor protection. The participants of the meeting, offered their opinions on a considerable decrease of cargo traffic via the North-West corridor, and noted serious changes in customary transportation schemes for basic chemical products. A separate point of discussion was a significant drop in the level of service, as well as non-compliance with environmental standards in different regions of Russia by unscrupulous market players.

It is expected that the first meeting of the Commission on tank-container transportation will be held in February 2023.
