AO GC Titan presented corporative environmental initiatives at the profile forum

Within frames of information openness policy the petrochemical enterprise AO GC Titan took part in the first off-line conference of the Federal project -“The green line”. On May 20 the plant and AO GC Titan representatives answered the most urgent environmental issues from the people of the town in live broadcast.

On 24^th of May the AO GC Titan delegation took part in the XII International Forum “Ecology”. Specialists of the company presented projects in the cities environmentalization area and industrial environmental regulation.

From 2009 the Forum “Ecology” has been one of the top social platforms, which focus the government policy on environmental protection. The topics discussed in 2021 included all general Russian environmental development trends from the eco-education to the “green” brands formulation and from the eco-tourism development to the climate changes containing.

Alexey Obukhov is the Executive Leader of AO GC Titan, the Expert of the Committee on the Chemical Industry on Improvement of Legislation of “Delovaya Rossiya” made a report at the working session “Industrial ecology: government regulation and business initiatives”. He told about the project of the “Delovaya Rossiya” Committee on chemical industry “Industrial ecostandard” supported by AO GC Titan and prepared for introduction. This project can become the environmental self-regulation tool and one of the mechanisms for the federal project “Clean air” implementation. Every environmentally-oriented Russian enterprise can join the project discussion.

“The initiative has several advantages: it is volunteerism for industrial enterprises and production modernization independent determination taking into account financial and resource opportunities and public legitimization of activities; and shorter deadlines to reduce the environmental impact for the state and society, than current government regulations” the expert noted.

Alexander Motorkin the production and technical department representative of the АО GC Titan became the speaker of the session “Right to air: the Federal project “Clear air” implementation and control methods”. As a young chemical engineer and manufacturer he was talking about the contribution which can be made by the chemical industry development to improve the situation with atmospheric air in cities. So the AO GC Titan implemented the project to establish the largest Russian isopropyl alcohol production, which can replace the toxic methanol in automobile chemical goods area and now the issues of production of modern environmentally friendly octane-increasing additives for automobile fuel, as well as construction of a bioethanol production facility are being worked out.

“Today cars account a half of the emissions in cities with a population of one million. If we establish the eco-gasoline production with addition of ethyl tert-butyl ether from renewable raw materials, we will reduce and, for some substances (for example, nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide), almost completely exclude atmospheric impacts from cars” Alexander said.

The event program includes more than 20 panel and working sessions, conferences and round tables.
