An exhibition of a famous Soviet painter was opened with the support of AO GC Titan

The opening ceremony of the exhibition “Aleksandr Deyneka. Above the Time” was held at the Vrubel Omsk Regional Museum of Fine Arts. AO GC Titan is a partner of the project.

The famous Soviet painter created more than 100 works of art in the period from 1910 to 1960: graphics, paintings, sculpture, art and craft items. All of them, as well as his personal belongings from the collection of the A. Deyneka Kursk Art Gallery, are presented at the new exhibition.

The uniqueness of the exhibition lies in the fact that the Kursk Art Gallery demonstrates such a big exhibition outside its own museum.

The exhibition divides the painter’s work into decades. In the first room the visitor can have a look at works created in the 1910s and 1930s, starting from the painter’s early painting experience when he studied in Kursk and Kharkov. In the second room there are works created in 1940s and 1960s. The visuals are arranged by analogy with human memories wandering from past to present and in reverse order. Among the works presented at the exhibition the audience can see the famous paintings "Self-Portrait in Panama" (early 1920s), "Portrait of the artist K.A. Vyalov" (1923), one of the best works of the war period "Under Occupation" (1944) that has been a symbol of Soviet art at international exhibitions for years and others.

Part of the exhibition consists of graphic works. These include sketches, illustrations for magazines and children's books, and sketches of coloured plaster murals about sport and recreation for the pavilions of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition and the famous mosaics for the Mayakovskaya metro station in Moscow.

By naming the exhibition “Above the Time”, the authors of the project wanted to demonstrate beauty and modernity of Deyneka’s artistic language and encourage the audience to interpret the author's meanings, rhymes and analogies independently.

Almost all of the works have been annotated by art experts, providing the public with detailed information about the author and his works.

The exhibition also provides a fun way to reinforce what you've learned and immerse yourself in the world of images.

The exhibition is open until 21 May 2023 in the Vrubel Museum building with the support of AO GC Titan which has traditionally responded to the initiative of the Vrubel Museum to introduce the residents of Omsk and the Omsk region to new works by artists and to educate them about their work. Vrubel Museum with the aim of introducing the residents of Omsk and the Omsk region to new works of art, educational work for the younger generation, fostering an artistic taste and an educational function.
