A compression module is going to be installed at the site of AO “Omsky kauchuk”

AO “Omsky kauchuk” (part of GC Titan) is going to receive the equipment for discharging tank cars that transport liquefied hydrocarbon gases and for collecting residuals (gas phase) of the product from the tank cars.

The finished equipment is to be delivered to the customer and put into operation in the second half of 2023. A site for the equipment is already prepared. The compression module will have both environmental and economic benefits: will reduce emissions and significantly reduce isobutane loss. Due to the application of the new compression module isobutane will be re-directed entirely to the production cycle under the existing drain scheme. The launch of this module will become another stage in the environmental modernization of the largest petrochemical enterprise in the Omsk region.

The supplier of the new automated equipment is a domestic company, which has been carefully selected taking into account various requirements. After receiving the compression module, it will be launched at the plant in test mode, and if there are any comments, the supplier will have to eliminate them promptly.

"The commissioning is going to take about a month, and the next step is a pilot run. The fact that the new equipment is Russian-made is especially important in the current situation. In the future we will be able to get all the components and consumables in case of need, steadily, without any problems or delays," said Sergei Ivanilov, general director of the company.

It should be noted that isobutane is a raw material for the production of methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE). Adding MTBE increases the octane number of fuel and improves its environmental characteristics, significantly reducing the content of incomplete combustion products, including carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons of various compositions, in automobile exhausts.
