55 years ago, the first batch of phenol was produced at “Omsky kauchuk” plant

In April 1968, the largest petrochemical enterprise of the Group of companies Titan produced the first commercial acetone and phenol.

At present, the Group of companies Titan that includes “Omsky kauchuk” plant produces about 20% of domestic phenol and acetone. Omsk phenol is supplied practically to all largest domestic enterprises engaged in this product processing. It is used in the production of phenol-formaldehyde resins, plastics and fibers, linoleum, chipboard and furniture, dyes, medicines, plant protection agents and other products. Acetone is necessary for the synthesis of methyl methacrylate and other organic products, and it’s also used as a solvent for nitro enamels and varnishes. Besides, it is applied in the manufacture of one more product of “Omsky kauchuk” plant - isopropyl alcohol.

The production of grade A phenol at the enterprise in 2005 became a significant achievement of the phenol and acetone production workshop for its rich history. Within the frameworks of a comprehensive project relative to the production facility modernization of “Omsky kauchuk” plant, in 2020 the Group of companies Titan started up upgraded phenol and acetone production facilities, which allowed to increase production capacities by one third.

It should be noted that the high-quality products of “Omsky kauchuk” plant - phenol and acetone were repeatedly rewarded at the All-Russian competition “100 Best Goods of Russia", as well as were given prizes and awards in the field of quality and import substitution.
