The AO “Omsky kauchuk” improves work safety

New safety systems are being installed at the AO “Omsky kauchuk” plant (a part of the AO GC Titan). The equipment ensures the safest working environment for personnel when working at height.

Stationary safety systems are the modern and most effective way of protection when working at height. This year, 17 risers will be equipped with safety systems at the loading and unloading racks of the warehouse, where isopropyl alcohol, acetone and other finished products are shipped to consumers. Previously, 75 risers at four loading and unloading racks of the company have already been equipped with similar systems.

The safety devices are equipped with a carabiner and a polymer rope. “This ensures the rope to be constantly taut when working at height and automatic blocking in case of slipping off,” the head of the unit, Pavel Kozhemyakin explained. - The distance from the cistern wagon roof to the ground is only 4.5 meters, therefore such devices are the optimum solution. The mechanism triggers very quickly, so the braking distance is less than half a meter.

In addition to the safety system, the safety harness fixed with a carabiner ensures the safety of those working at height.

The project was carried out by the design engineers of the plant, and for its implementation the personnel of a specialized contractor were engaged. The systems are planned to be operational by the end of 2021.

We should add that about 130 million roubles have been allocated to environmental, occupational and industrial safety measures at the AO “Omsky kauchuk” for 9 months of 2021.
