GC Titan launches Russia's first silica gel and silica sol production facility

GC Titan has launched Russia's first industrial production facility for silica gel and silica sol. The holding company's new project is being implemented by RusSilica. The grand opening of the new production facility took place on June 2 in Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod Region, with the participation of First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov and Deputy Governor of the region Andrey Sanosyan.

The first and unique technological industrial complex in Russia is equipped with modern technologies and is capable of producing 12,000 tons of micronized silica gels and 6,000 tons of stable silica sols annually. The products are in demand in more than 30 sectors of the economy, including tire manufacturing, rubber products, the chemical and food industries, oil refining, metallurgical industry, as well as the production of adhesives, paper, paints, and building materials.

Silicagels and silica sols have been included by the Russian Federation Ministry of Industry and Trade in the list of priority projects for the production of small and medium-tonnage chemicals, which have a comprehensive impact on the development of related sectors of the economy.

In addition, the products to be manufactured by RusSilica are part of the national project “New Materials and Chemistry” in the chain “Ultra-high molecular weight high-density polyethylene and special polymers.” The production technology is unique in Russia and allows the product to be given the necessary properties and structure, as well as achieving excellent quality indicators. One of the most important advantages of the process is its high environmental characteristics.
Investments in the project amounted to 21 billion rubles. The implementation of the project has created more than 200 new jobs in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Once the new production facility reaches its design capacity, the company will be able to fully meet the country's domestic demand for scarce raw materials and reduce its dependence on foreign supplies.

Denis Manturov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation:
"Exactly two years ago, on June 1, 2023, we laid the first stone of this enterprise with the same team. This plant is pure import substitution – such products were not previously manufactured in Russia. Production facilities such as RusSilica are fully in line with the objectives of the New Materials and Chemistry national project, which aims to create innovative domestic materials for pharmaceuticals, agriculture, transport, aviation, and many other industries interested in high-quality chemical materials."

Andrey Sanosyan, Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region:
"The company received a preferential loan from the Industry Development Fund in the amount of five billion rubles for the purchase of equipment. In addition, an agreement was signed between the investor, the region, and the Federal Ministry of Economic Development on the investment protection and promotion agreement (IPPA). This mechanism allows investors to reimburse partially the costs incurred for the creation of infrastructure facilities and the costs of paying interest on loans, as well as to obtain stabilization guarantees."

Mikhail Sutyaginsky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Titan Group:
"Micronized silica gels are a new generation product due to innovative production technology. The plant's products will provide competitive advantages and open up new areas of application for domestic manufacturers. Import-independent production will allow new markets and areas of application for the raw materials produced to be formed. For the industry, this is a key strategic objective and a necessary condition for ensuring the country's technological leadership."
