RUPEC.RU: the GC Titan has finished equipment installation at the cumene and isopropyl alcohol production facilities

The Group of companies Titan keeps on the project implementation in reconstruction of cumene production with isopropyl alcohol unit at “Omsky kauchuk”. The installation of the core process equipment had been finished, as the company informed “Rupec”.

The first to arrive at the site were six heat exchangers for various purposes, the last - domestic block-boxes (heated modules) for imported compressors placement therein.

“The equipment for upper level of Automated Process Control System has already been manufactured, soon it will be delivered in Omsk”, – the head of the project Aleksandr Gross informed.

Now the facility involves over 250 people - representatives of eight contractors, as well as employees of special purpose entities of the group petrochemical block. In the nearest future it is planned to start improvement of the territory.

The aggregate project investments are estimated at 4.6 billion rubles, the total stock of which is provided by the group.

“By July 1, we should start isopropyl alcohol producing,” the head of the GC Titan Mikhail Sutyaginsky said earlier. The start of cumene production (isopropylbenzene) into commercial operation was previously scheduled for September-October, after capital upgrades at “Omsky Kauchuk”. So far, the Group does not announce the production launch date.

Isopropyl alcohol production capacity will be 75 thousand tons per year. Enterprise capacity for cumene will increase up to 160 thousand tons per year. A salient reconstruction feature is the conversion of production to more advanced and environmentally acceptable alkylation process with zeolite catalyst, that corresponds to the concepts of the best available technologies. This process eliminates generation of waste streams and waste material.

“Omsky kauchuk” specializes in production of synthetic rubbers, liquefied gases, octane-increasing additives and organic synthesis products. The enterprise is one of the three largest exporters of styrene-butadiene-rubbers in Russia.
