Pskov Information Agency: Taras Antal: We build the foundation for the educational and scientific cooperation in association with Titan-Polymer

Pskov State University will begin to train specialists for the Titan-Polymer plant in the new academic year. The pro-rector for research, doctor of biological sciences Taras Antal told about this in an interview with the correspondent of the Pskov Information Agency. The Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation has prepared a draft project of “Strategic Academic Leadership Program”, which proposes a new concept of education in higher scientific and educational institutions.

“Universities must provide the training of professional employees by specialties in demand, which are capable of giving a technological leap”, noted Taras Antal, adding that the university should develop such a strategic program.

Pskov State University has defined sectors of activities, and chemical engineering is the main and promising one.

“There are other sectors such as tourism, education, medicine, but the main and promising for the region is chemical materials and technologies” – the scientist explained emphasizing that the main partner of the university in this area is the Pskov Titan-Polymer plant.

The university also develops joint programs and projects with the SEZ Moglino management.

One of the last programs is the Vernadsky program which was presented to the Governor of the Pskov Region Mikhail Vedernikov and the First Deputy Governor Vera Emelyanova.

Taras Antal noted that “this is collaborative program between the region and MSU. A consortium of scientific, educational, research organizations and enterprises is being formed within the region and it interacts with Moscow State University”.

The main goal of the program is to use the resources of MSU for the development of the region.

Taras Antal emphasized by saying that “we build the foundation for the educational and scientific cooperation with Titan-Polymer.

The chemistry department of Moscow State University, a network of research institutes that are partners of “Titan-Polymer” as well as a Subdepartment of Chemistry of the Pskov State University which also participate in both educational and scientific process are included in the “Vernadsky” program.

Multifunctional laboratory of Pskov State University

Multifunctional laboratory is about to start operation in Pskov State University, where chemical and biochemical researches will be carried out.

“We will train students to become an experts so they will be able to conduct these researches” – Taras Antal noted.

Speaker also informed that in future the educational programs will be refined and the Subdepartment of Chemistry will be reformed. The university will recruit new highly qualified employees and some people will come to Pskov from other universities, some people will teach in the distant delivery mode. The university will train personnel purposefully for a work at Titan-Polymer LLC.

“The interaction in terms of creating study programs for providing Titan-Polymer LLC with personnel is going now” - Taras Antal noted. – The training of the specialists for the plant will start in next academy year”.

An establishment of center for engineering in Pskov

The tender for the establishment of centers for engineering will take place this coming autumn.

Taras Antal reminded that “there is already “Innovative electrical equipment” engineering center in Pskov State University. The similar tender will be announced and the university is going to participate in it along with the Titan-Polymer LLC”.

A new engineering center will be concentrated on chemical technologies. “Currently we work on drafting the application together with experts from the Titan-Polymer LLC” - Taras Antal reported.

The cooperation of the basic university and the “Titan-Polymer” LLC takes place in another direction and this is environmental study.

“This is not only the expertise of the plant current situation, but it is also the analysis of future situations as well as the forecast of the ecological situation” – Taras Antal explained by adding that a range of experts were involved in it. The Pskov State University also takes part and there are talks about creation an expert group.

The Cooperation Agreement between Pskov State University and Titan-Polymer LLC was signed at the end of 2019.
