Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation: isopropyl alcohol output in Russia will increase 2.5-fold

Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov took part in the opening of isopropyl alcohol production at the plant “Omsky kauchuk” of the GC Titan, he discussed as well issues of support and development of the region with the Governor of Omsk Region Alexander Burkov. During his business trip Denis Manturov got acquainted with modern petrochemical sites of the GC Titan: phenol and acetone production workshop and the organic synthesis shop floor. The Minister together with the Governor of Omsk Region and the GC Titan Chairman of the Board of Directors Mikhail Sutyaginsky have opened a new isopropyl alcohol production aimed at complete replacing of this product import on the Russian market and in the future to export.

“Due to new capacities the output of isopropyl alcohol in our country will increase more than 2.5 times, to almost 100 thousand tons per year. That way it will reduce significantly import content in this area, and “Omsky kauchuk” will be able to cover more than half of the market. We have already today signed an agreement with the enterprise on the implementation of a program to improve competitiveness within the framework of the national project “International cooperation and export”; based on the results of its implementation, the volume of alcohol shipped for export in 2024 will amount to about 3 billion rubles. I would also like to mention the environmental component of this project. Using the most advanced technologies and the latest domestic equipment ensures almost complete absence of effluents and minimal impact on the environment” Denis Manturov noted.

Thanks to new capacities start-up it will be possible to produce highly purified isopropyl alcohol, including pharmacopoeial quality. A product of this quality can be used for the production of antiseptic and disinfectants as well as for medicines.

“It’s an important project for the whole country. Our production will use exclusively domestic raw materials. As a result, we will get high quality alcohol. With this unit launching, the region will get tax base increase by half a billion rubles a year and 140 new jobs with respectable wages. It is important that reduced impact technologies are used here, thanks to which environmental load will be minimized” the Governor of Omsk Region Alexander Burkov commented on the launch of isopropanol production.

Also, within the working trip a bilateral meeting between Denis Manturov and Alexander Burkov took place, where they discussed the industrial potential of the region, plans for its development and, in particular, federal and regional measures to support enterprises. Omsk industrial enterprises actively cooperate with the federal Production Development Fund (PDF). The PDF concessional loans allow to implement investment projects important for the region, stimulating the inflow of direct industrial investments. The Production Development Fund has financed 8 projects in the region for a total amount of more than 2 billion rubles, and their total budget exceeds 5.5 billion rubles, as the Minister emphasized.
