The AO GC Titan is completely switching to environmentally friendly technologies and intends to reduce emissions by another 20 percent by 2024.  This was announced at today’s press conference at MKR-MEDIA. The largest enterprise of the AO GC Titan – “Omsky kauchuk” is the main site for new greening projects.

“We managed to reduce emissions by 32 percent due to new technologies used just at the phenol and acetone production. Modernization of the isopropylbenzene (cumene) production unit is another large project. In this project we used the best available technologies with higher efficiency. As a result, this unit is completely free of effluent. We are also among the first companies in Omsk region to receive the conclusion regarding the object of environmental expertise from the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources.

That is, according to the document, the reconstruction of cumene production was carried out in compliance with environmental protection requirements and in accordance with the project.  More than 10 billion rubles have been invested in environmental projects totally,” General Director of the AO “Omsky kauchuk” Sergey Ivanilov said.

The AO “Omsky kauchuk” plant is one of the main taxpayers in the region. In recent years the plant has reduced emissions from 8 to 4 tons per year. At the same time, the total amount of emissions in Omsk is about 350 thousand tons per year, so the enterprise's contribution to the total gross emissions is less than 1.5%. This amount will be decreasing – as the speakers at the press-conference claimed.

“A series of measures will be taken at the AO “Omsky kauchuk” plant until 2024 in order to reduce environmental impact by another 20 percent. This involves the establishment of new production facilities using the latest equipment and the best available technologies, as well as the installation of modern equipment,” Chairman of the Board of Directors of the AO GC Titan Mikhail Sutyaginsky said. – The Group of companies has already completed more than 10 investment projects including those aimed at greening and continues its development”.

“Clean Air Formula” is one of the new projects. High-octane fuel components planned to be produced at the AO GC Titan sites will allow reducing vehicles emissions up to 40 percent.  A number of other large projects are planned to be implemented.

“Today our country needs epoxy resins. They are fully imported to Russia in the amount of 70 000 tons per year. The AO GC Titan has set itself the task to establish a new epoxy resins production,” General Director of the AO GC Titan Farhad Samedov said.

Moreover, a benzene pipeline is under construction at the moment, so it will allow excluding technological operations for tank cars preparation (draining/pouring, steaming, washing) and product filling and draining as well. 

“We carried out technical re-equipment of rubber production and reduced wastewater discharge by 28 thousand tons per year.  In addition to this, we carried out technical re-equipment and changed drainage schemes, having stopped using chlorine at the plant,” Acting Chief Engineer of the AO “Omsky kauchuk” plant Sergey Sergeyev concluded.

Also the state expertise receiving process is being completed in order to start reclamation of the industrial waste landfill. Once the reclamation is finished the ground will be replaced, grass and trees will be planted.
