Such cooperation will make it possible to create unique production facilities in the regions of the Russian Federation, as well as to achieve their greening necessary level in accordance with the international ESG-agenda. This was announced within the National Congress by the regional Curator of the “Growth Locomotives” Project for Omsk region, the Head of the AO GC Titan, Mikhail Sutyaginsky.
“The economic and industrial development of Omsk region and the Russian Federation is impossible without the synergy of science, education and business. In July, the research conference devoted to low-tonnage chemistry development was held with the support of the regional government. As a result, a list of pulling projects in the field of low-tonnage chemistry has been formed. Delovaya Rossiya Chemical Industry Committee, chaired by me, has sent these projects to the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade for further elaboration. Similar strategic projects lists could be formed in other industries as well,” Mikhail Sutyaginsky said.
According to the industrialist, today in Omsk there are more than 300 small, medium-sized and large chemical enterprises, which provide jobs for about 15 thousand people. More than a quarter of main industrial funds is concentrated at the petrochemical complex. The industry accounts for over 90% of regional exports. Therefore, it is important to implement advanced technologies and institutional developments, attract the most qualified specialists with secondary and higher education.
Moreover, active cooperation between science and business contributes to develop industry in compliance with the ESG principals. Omsk region enterprises try to do their best to reduce environmental impact and also suggest solutions to current ecological problems.
«We have the “Clean Air Formula” project including high-octane fuel components production as a good example. According to experts’ estimates, the components will reduce by 2-2.5 million tons of automobile transport emissions in the Russian Federation. The project also provides for saving natural gas (467 million m3) and oil (1.5 million tons) by replacing methanol with ethanol of vegetable origin. Omsk enterprises can work together to meet and achieve the air emission reduction goals set by the Federal Project “Clean Air,” Mikhail Sutyaginsky emphasized.
It is also important to follow information transparency principals during enterprises modernization and greening. According to Mikhail Sutyaginsky, “Growth Locomotives” Project can become one of the main platforms, where it is possible to tell people about changes in the industry.
