For 9 years the enterprise “Omsky kauchuk” has not buried production waste at the landfill. This became possible thanks to the modernization program and change-over in many processes to a waste-free production cycle.
We should remind that the landfill of the plant “Omsky kauchuk” has been operating since 1971. At that time, by the order of Omsk Regional Executive Committee, the enterprise was allocated a special land plot, where, in accordance with the project documentation, the so-called landfill cells were built and waterproof specially equipped pits for industrial waste burying, which are mistakenly called “chemical lakes” or “colored ponds”.
In 2012, due to prohibition of waste disposal within the boundaries of inhabited localities, the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources issued an order to close the landfill, and according to the internal order, the landfill was terminated. After that, the selection of a contractor for reclamation work began.
The contractor has been found and the work has begun on research and development of a landfill reclamation project. It should be noted that the project involves not only ecological restoration of the land, but also further processing of the recycled substances accumulated on the territory.
“The company has entered into a service contract with the contractor - the scientific and production enterprise “Promekologiya”. - Alexei Obukhov, Deputy General Director for Legal Affairs of the AO GC Titan commented. “The design work has now been completed. The relevant documentation has been sent for the state ecological expertise this year”.
We should add that “Omsky Kautchuk” has spent about 35 million rubles to organize the design works, the total cost of landfill reclamation involves more than 200 million rubles.
Currently, the landfill cells are not functioning, and their condition is under control - the company's specialists regularly take samples and monitor environmental impact. No exceedance of the specified standards was registered at the landfill.
By the way, on 2 July, the camera crew of the “Channel 12” visited the landfill of the plant “Omsky kauchuk” to see with their own eyes its current condition. The results are in the channel's story: https://12-kanal.ru/program/chas-novostey/99707/
