NZSM laboratory analyzed 500 batches of end products

Test Industrial Laboratory of NZSM LLC (forms a part of the Group of Companies «Titan») successfully tested end products manufactured at the enterprise.

Exercising analytical control of the production process, experts of the laboratory tested more than 500 batches of products manufactured by the plant within 2018. Besides, 100 prototypes of new formulas of lubricants, oils and process liquids were tested at Novocherkassk plant.

Depending on their type, products are routinely tested for several properties at a time, including viscosity, density, colloidal stability, pour point and dropping point, mass fraction of alkalis, acids, water and mechanical impurities, as well as tensile strength.

Duration of test of one parameter is from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Duration of analysis is determined by a number of factors including sample preparation time, device ramp-up time, time of sample thermostating — maintaining of constant temperature (both positive and negative).

«For example, according to standards water content in all-purpose lubricant No 158 manufactured on basis of high quality mineral oils shall not exceed 0.03%. In the process of products analysis for tribology by means of four-ball machine wear scar on balls is measured using a microscope: if wear scar diameter is less than 3mm, we can deduce that the product complies with the standard», said Igor Kostyuk, General Director of NZSM LLC. «Each sample is registered in the laboratory, a number is assigned to the batch and lab engineer executes a quality certificate which is subsequently handed over to the customer with the supporting documentation».

It should be noted that quality of products manufactured by NZSM LLC define operation of the enterprise. It is controlled using up-to-date domestically made equipment and instrumentation. Instrumentation of the laboratory includes tens of pieces of equipment and devices including high accuracy microscopes, liquid low-temperature thermostats, pH-meters, distillers, four-ball machines imitating operation of lubricant in bearings, penetrometers etc.

Additional control is exercised through investigations conducted by external independent expert teams.
