GC Titan and Lomonosov MSU enhanced cooperation in the field of microfluidic technologies

An agreement on strategic cooperation was concluded between Group of companies Titan and the Faculty of Chemistry of Lomonosov MSU. A solemn ceremony was held as part of the 26th International Exhibition “CHEMISTRY-2023” at the exhibition booth of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia. The document was signed by Head of Moscow separate division of GC Titan Aleksandr Orlov and Deputy Dean of the faculty Sergey Karlov, PhD in Chemistry.

The cooperation includes carrying out scientific work with the involvement of microfluidic technologies. In addition, the parties will make it possible for students and teachers to participate in Titan’s R&D, and engineering activities. The parties will also organize mutual R&D work on the subjects of the enterprise.

Microfluidic technologies include the making of compact devices that operate with micro-liter fluids using channels with dimensions of tens to hundreds of microns. This innovative technology makes it possible to take chemical synthesis and automation of processes in knowledge-intensive sectors of Russian industry to a whole new level.

“Up until recently all microfluidic equipment in Russia has been imported. However, today’s challenges met by the Russian industry require rapid technological development. GC Titan, together with the faculty, will focus on introducing microfluidic equipment into production, improving safety and eco-friendliness of products, and forming scientific and technology base for advanced sectors of the country’s economy,” Head of Moscow separate division of GC Titan Aleksandr Orlov said.

“The current technological tasks require the involvement of specialists who have a broad knowledge of multiple subject areas and competences in dealing with non-standard tasks. This is why leading experts of the faculty will be involved in the work. They, together with their colleagues from GC Titan, will identify the exact details of the problem and find the most effective solution. By involving students in this work, we also plan to partially meet GC Titan’s demand for good and adapted professionals,” Deputy Dean of the faculty Sergey Karlov, PhD in Chemistry said.

Leading scientists, young researchers, postgraduates and students of the Faculty of Chemistry of MSU will take part in the implementation of joint projects. The results of the work will be presented at international, all-Russian and industry symposia and conferences.
